          Adelina Oprean was born in Deva, Romania, in 1955. She began playing the violin at the age of seven at the Music School in Sibiu, helped by her father, himself a keen amateur violinist. In 1972 she entered the Music School in Bucharest and later the Porumbescu Conservatory under Stefan Gheorghiu.

          He lived at the time of Mozart and Beethoven; this period seemed to produce a good-to-great composer every two minutes.
